Why Fishing Is A Great Hobby

Why is fishing such a great hobby? Why do fishermen have such a great passion for the sport?  These are great questions. I will attempt to explain what it means to me. In life it is great to have a hobby  sport such as fishing that you have enthusiasm for. Imagine life without a hobby or something you like to do. Let’s  disect why  fishing is so enjoyable to many millions of people in the United states and the world.  First getting outdoors is huge. Many of us like myself work in an office in the middle of a metropolitan area. It has been proven that having an office window is very theraputical. Imagine how much more theraputical getting outdoors would do. I do not know if there is a study about this topic.  It would be an interesting study.  Once you are outdoors you have your gear (boat , fly fishing equipment etc).  The challenge of catching a fish is not easy sometimes.  To describe a good day of fishing and the excilleration is hard to put into words. If I could give you a spoon full of this excilleration you would understand. To put in perspective. Here in Minnesota we have a long hard winter. The Minnesota winter runs from December through about mid April when the ice goes out. It is about this time of year March 1 Minnesotan’s start thinking of the those April days when they can get out fishing in their boat and pursue panfish.  When you are in the boat the first time out there is a great sense of anticipation on boating your first catch. Relax is another word to describe the fishing experience.  Out in the boat or if you are fly fishing a beautiful stream. The relaxation factor is large. The peaceful feeling is also large. Out in the boat you are alone or with fishing buddies away from rush hour traffic and the day to day hustle and bustle. I know a friend who says there is no greater peaceful feeling then when I am alone in my boat on a nice sunny day away from work and the crowds. The friend goes onto say that it recharges his batteries. Another great part of fishing is the eating of the fish. Their is my opinion and my others no greater tasting meal then a fresh fish dinner cooked the same day as caught in a lake river , or stream. Try these other links on fishing
